Some interesting points to consider:
- Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is a government mandated insurance program into which working individuals pay. If you become disabled it will provide you with a monthly disability check – averaging close to $1,000 per month!
- 3 out of 10 individuals will become disabled and lose their ability to work before full retirement age.
- An eligible disabled individual who does not apply for Social Security Disability benefits (SSDI) may lose a portion of his or her future retirement benefits from Social Security.
- In addition to the monthly cash benefits, enrollment in SSDI may qualify you for Medicare in advance of your 65th birthday.
