If you can’t work because of a disabling medical condition, and you have paid Social Security (FICA) taxes, you could qualify for cash and health insurance benefits from the Social Security Administration (SSA).

- Evaluate your case.
- Determine if you qualify for disability benefits.
- Help you build a winning application.
The Cost for Social Security Disability Services
There are no upfront fees for working with us. We receive a percentage fee on back benefits for you and your dependents as depetermined by SSA only if win your case.
What to Do if SSA Denies Your First-Time Application
You should know that you could still be denied benefits the first time. SSA denies 63 percent of first-time applications. If this happens, our Advocates know what to do to appeal SSA’s decision. Even if your case reaches the level of a court appeal, a Freedom Disability Advocate or Attorney is there to represent you. We win 90 percent of disability claims through appeals.

Once you are approved for SSDI benefits, you will be eligible for Medicare health insurance in 24 months.
Don’t Risk Your Disability Benefits
Certainly you can apply to SSA on your own. But why risk it? A less-than-perfect, first-time application could mean a denial of benefits. Then you risk months of waiting through an appeal. Improve your chances of success with Freedom Disability, the Social Security Disability experts.
There’s no time to wait. Let’s get started.

I get 674.00 a month SSI mental health disability since Dec. 2007. Once payee, rent, cable, and grocery expenses are paid, there is really nothing left. How can you help me get extra cash benefits?
Tommy, You won't be able to get more cash benefits from SSI, but you may qualify for additional cash benefits through the SSDI program. Call us at (866)761-5942 to speak with an eligibility consultant.
I was diagnosed with Rhematoid Arthritis in 1998 and I was put into different pain and anti-flammatory medications. Since then, I'm still working full-time despite the pain & athritis attacks. My fingers start to deformed and my Rheumatologist put me on a medication that costs me $50.00 every month after my insurance. I'm not sure if my condition would qulified me to some kind of disability financial assistance. With this bad economy, I tend to skip taking my medication because of the high cost. Also, I work at a Billing & Accounting office which I use computer a lot. I struggle every time I have arthritis attack because I don't have a good grib of the mouse or having hard time on the keyboard. Please advise. Thank you, John
John, If you are having difficulty working, perhaps your employer offers short-term disability insurance. At any point in which your condition prevents you from working full time, long-term, then you may be eligible for cash and health insurance benefits through SSDI. Please go to our "Disability Benefits" page to find out about the different types of disability insurance that may be available to help you.
i have lupus that effects my body so abruptly at times with very sever swelling in my hands and neck. my medicines the dr's have put me on cause allergic reactions. i am sensitive to them .then have to go on predizon !!and how long till this doesn't work i have stiff muscles that some times cant walk . this come on go ,i go as i can and trying to work how could ssdi help me when im not functioning the way i should iam 57 this year and it it getting worse and worse my back and shoulders swell really bad and that effected using my hands for a while i try to work with the Dr and a counselor and this is starting to get really overwhelming which effects the nerves that set this condition off again what kind of help will ssdi provide?
Gail, If your condition makes it impossible for you to continue working, and you expect that you won't be able to work for at least 12 months, you may qualify for SSDI. You also need to have worked long enough to have paid into Social Security, and be able to prove that your condition has become disabling. Disability benefits are calculated from your earnings record. At some point you may want to consider applying for SSDI. It usually takes 3 to 6 months to get an initial decision from Social Security. If you get approved for SSDI you become eligible for Medicare in 24 months. We can help you if you decide to apply fo SSDI.

Hello, I have always had a bad back but have never gone to the doctor. One time I couldn't move out of bed for 3 days. Do you think I would have a case, I am sure i would need to get a doctor's sign off on it but do you win a lot of bad back cases?
Nick, You have to be able to prove to SSA that your condition makes it impossible for you to work You need a doctor to verify your condition and you need to meet SSA's work history criteria. Please check through our Eligibility section. If you think you meet SSA's strict elgibility requirements, give us a call and we can help determine if you have a case.
I am 27,I only worked 4 years before i got hurt,6 years ago. Iget only 720.00 a month for SS I have tunnel vision, would i be aproved for SSDI?
Hi Jose. If I understand your question correctly, it appears that you are receiving Supplemental Security Income. At the time of your application for SSI your SSDI eligibility should have been evaluated by the Social Security Administration. If you applied when you were 21 and you had worked the previous four years you should have received some sort of an SSDI benefit. You might receive a small SSDI payment with your SSI benefit. You may want to consult the SSA to get the specifics of your case.
I was turned down for ssi and it has passed the 60 day period for appeal. I am 51 yrs old and have worked in the construction industry since I was 17yrs old. It has taken a large toll on my health, arthritus, bad back, knees, ect. It didnt help that all those injuries and years of abuse I fixed most of my own injuries. I could not afford to take time off work or lack of medical ins, so duct tape, ace bandages ect. SSI sent me to a DR visit a couple months ago,the DR took one x-ray and admitted she was in a hurry to go to lunch. Needles to say I was denied. COULD USE SOME ADVICE PLEASE!
Rick, You will be contacted by an Eligibility Consultant to discuss your options for help.
I GET 674.00 MONTH AND I CAN NOT GET A TRANSMISSION BECAUSE BY THE TIME I PAY MY BILLS I HAVE NOMONEY LEFT WHAT CAN I DO
DCY, Your local social services may be able to help you. It would be best to find out from them if you are eligible for other benefits.
I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 16 months ago. I was working as a medical biller at that time. My symptoms are ataxia, back and hip pain, loss of balance and inability to stand for more than 10 minutes. I was laid off from my job in September and it made me realize how much working affected my ability to live a productive life. I would like to apply for disability but I think I need help with the process
Sandy, It's a very good idea to get advocacy help in applying for disability benefits. The process is complicated and many first-time applications are denied because of incomplete information. Your first step should be to talk to one of our Eligibility Consultants to find out if you meet SSA's strict qualifications. I suggest calling us at 866-761-5942. Find out more about the eligibility criteria in our Eligibility section of this Web site. I hope we can help.
i get 581.00 a month for ssdi Ruptured Disc since feb.1998 and i just found out that i got cervical herniated disc and the doctor gave me 4 shots on my back last friday. im still hurting and i hasnt worked over 6 yrs . i pay all utility bills and grocery expenses are paid, there is really nothing left. How can you help me get extra cash benefits? Is any way to get extra?
Scotty, Your SSDI benefit is based on your work history and earnings record. The benefit cannot be increased. There may be other social services programs that could help you. It would be best to contact your local Social Security office for more advice on these programs.
my dad git SSD and my mom is disables but when she first applyed they said she was like one or two points from being able to get it now she has not worked for a long time the only live on my dads check and when trying to get help they say they make to much money ....do u thank she may be able to get help some how???
Debbie, It sounds like your Mom isn't insured for Social Security disability insurance benefits (SSDI) because she hasn't worked recently enough. She needs to have worked five years within the last 10 years and the onset of her condition had to happen within five years from when she last worked. This would be her date last insured for disability. Also, it sounds like she isn't eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) because your parents' income is over the allowable amount for SSI. There is no way to change the rules for these disability progams. But, your parents may be able to find some programs and services to help them at www.helpwell.org. Maybe this resource can give you all some financial help. Good luck.
I am in my 30s and have been on SS since about 2008, I have Major Depressive Disorder, ptsd, anxiety disorder, OCD, and ADD. The last psychiatrist I saw was 2 years ago; I tried four different mental health drugs for almost a year, but they all made me crazy/suicidal. Thinking my life was in jeopardy, I became unwilling to try any more mental health drugs and my psychiatrist didn't force the issue, he suggested that I try a naturopath or naturopathic herbs. To add another log onto the fire, I also have had hip problems since Feb. 2010 which I am getting an MRI for it (finally) and I have had a doctor and three specialists look at it. It's been x-rayed, sonogrammed, and I been through physical therapy. Also, I have been having shoulder pain since April 2010. Throughout all of this, I am getting more and more depressed, feeling the pain EVERYDAY and feeling like there is no hope. I am coming up for review in a few days, but I cannot manage to fill out my paperwork for the SS office, I am experiencing a lot of fear of being denied. I am considering checking myself into a mental hospital for a few days; I have never been hospitalized before. It is important to note that when I saw the four doctors for my hip, I did not check on the boxes on their intake form that I was depressed (save one who had known me from before I was depressed). I didn't include that because I didn't think it was pertinent to my hip problem, but mostly because I didn't want to be discriminated against and feel more depressed because of it (as I was before by an eye doctor because of my past history). I didn't think anything of not checking the boxes on the application to signify I am depressed-- until I was reading certain information on your website. Can I please get help with my case from your organization? Maybe it would help if I officially changed my health record with those organizations. However, this can take time and I got a notice in the mail saying that I must go to the SS office on Dec. 8, a couple of days!!! Can I request a review from SS after my health records are set straight or do I have no choice in the matter? Please help! Frozen
Frozen, If you do get denied and appeal this decision within the 10 day period, you will continue to recieve your SS benefits while the appeal is reviewed. Unfortunately, if your appeal is denied, you will have to pay this back. My recommendation is to be honest with SS about all disabiling conditions that are preventing you from returning to work so that they have a complete picture of your current medical condition and how it impacts your ability to function.
my wife has brain cancer lung cancer in both lungs she has went through keymo..and is still trying to servive..i have applied for help three times .they say she has not worked enough in her life to get help....dont know where else to turn.can u help?
