There are some very basic feel-good things a person with a health condition or disability can do to improve quality of life.
Music
Sing, learn to play an Instrument or just listen to some good tunes. You could:
- strengthen movement and dexterity
- improve concentration,
- feel less irritable or restless
- reduce stress, depression or pain
Motion
Even a little exercise is good for you. So move around. If you can walk, dance, or just stretch you can:
- feel stronger
- burn calories
- reduce depression
- gain a sense of well-being
Laughter
Watch a good comedy. If it’s funny enough to make you laugh you can help:
- relax muscles and reduce pain
- strengthen your immune system
- lower blood sugar
- boost energy
Meditation
Do some deep breathing and quiet your thoughts. Just a few minutes a day can:
- reduce blood pressure
- ease depression
- improve muscle tension
- help manage chronic pain
